In a Nut Shell . . .

Well, there isn’t a whole lot to say about Richmond except . . . I hate weekends like this one. And with that said, you would never guess that Richmond is my favorite track. I say that because there is always good racing there. In this case, we were just not the ones doing it.

We made it through tech with no problems. That evening Jason and I tried to find a good cheeseburger joint but had to settle for dinner at the motel.

We had a full schedule on race day which started off bad due to the position I drew for qualifying . . . FIFTH. Needless to say, (and if you have been on my message board you all know this) I got fired from that job.

We got Truck 5 ready for the first practice and struggled for the rest of the day. The truck was handling good into the corner, and then it would push from the center of the turn off. Toward the end of the second practice we got the truck tuned in pretty close, but our mach qualifying run was way too loose.

As the race got under way, I knew it was going to be a lone one. The truck just wouldn’t handle. That pretty much sums the race up in a nutshell (no pun intended).

Truck 5 got some slight body damage through the night so we will now take Truck 2 to New Hampshire. We went to the shop on Friday to begin to get it ready. It was good therapy for us all to just put Richmond behind us.

On Saturday Chase took Travis, BC17, Shmuck and myself out for nine holes of golf and then lunch at Hooters. We had a good time.

Next for the No. 17 team is on to New Hampshire. I’m excited about going there to visit with some of my family and friends and to see how much my old town of Plymouth has changed. Maybe I’ll even run into Joe Dudek . . . Anyone remember him?
