In a Nut Shell . . .

Atlanta

Thursday the garage didn’t open until 9:00 a.m. so we got to sleep in a little. We had to go through tech before we could practice. We had to fix a couple of things but nothing big.

The first run in practice was not too good. We hit the race track hard, however we were hitting the trailing arm so we raised it up and went back out. The truck was a lot better after we got back on track. As we continued to run we discovered we needed to be a little tighter. Our lap times never fell off so we had a very consistent race truck. We made a mock qualifying run and the truck did not like that set up too much. We weren’t too worried because we knew we had a good race truck.

When we were coming back into the garage area, I crashed the truck into the generator . . . way to go stupid! There was some right side damage but not too bad. Thanks Nate for fixing it and thanks Fire Stopper for not letting me forget about it.

We got the truck fixed and ready to qualify for the next morning. That night I stayed at the track and went to the Schrader’s for dinner. What a hoot they are. I had a really good time.

The next morning we put old Nikki on line to qualify. I didn’t expect too much but hoped for the best. We ended up 13th which wasn’t too bad and we were able to get the best pit stall on pit road.

The race stopped before it really got started. Luckily everyone was okay from that melee. Then as we got going again, disaster struck from no where. There was engine trouble which ended up being a hole in the block . . . so that was it for the 17 that day.

I’m beginning to feel like if it were not for bad luck, we wouldn’t have any at all! On to Texas.
